Boise Cascade Facility – Lathrop, California

Boise-Cascade recently opened a new rail-served facility in Lathrop, CA to serve the Northern California lumber market. Our crews completed the construction of a new, UPRR-served, railroad spur track totaling over ¾ mile in length. The New Spur Track was designed and constructed in accordance with the UPRR's new "Heavy Traffic" specification, which is required because of the high-volume of traffic that will operate over the new spur. Additionally, portions of the New Spur will eventually be tied-into a new UPRR Siding Track to serve both Boise-Cascade and other local rail-served industries.

Allied Box Facility – Richmond, California

The Allied Box Company, located in Richmond Ca., is a storage and warehousing business located between UPRR and BNSF Railway mainline tracks. Consequently, it is served by each of the (2) Class I Railroads ("dual-served"), making it one of the few such industries in the area. IRC recently completed the construction of a new UPRR-served 900' Spur Track, along with the rehabilitation of approximately ½ mile of existing storage and operations trackage. The rehabilitation-portion of the project consists of extensive tie-and-rail replacement, turnout removal and relocation, and production surfacing. The proximity of this project to the adjacent UPRR Mainline, at times only 15' – 20', necessitated that a flagger be on-site at all times because of the 79 MPH trains traveling through the site multiple times a day, includes the Capitol Corridor Commuter Trains.

Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center – McCarran Nevada

The Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRI-Center), located in McCarran Nevada adjacent to the UPRR Mainline approximately halfway between Sparks and Fernley, is reported to be the largest Industrial Park in the world in total acreage. IRC completed the Phase I construction of approximately 3.7 miles of new Lead Track to serve the Park, along with approximately 1/2 miles of new Private Spur Tracks to serve the Park's current largest rail-user, the James Hardie Corporation, in 2005. We've also recently completed Phases II and III, which added another 4.8 miles of new Yard and Lead tracks into the Park, and have also completed spur construction for the 2nd rail-served industry in the Park, the Pittsburg Paint Group (PPG).

CCT 14 Mile Mainline Reconstruction – Stockton, CA

IRC removed and reconstructed 14 miles of the Central California Traction Company (CCT) mainline trackage, previously constructed with 75# rail, using new heavy rail, ties, and ballast rock. Given a production window of Friday to Monday, IRC completed 2000-3000 TF per weekend with modern railroad construction equipment and a crew no larger than seven workers. This project also included 14 new turnouts, 18 new road crossings, an additional 12,000 ties, and several miles of production surfacing. What was once a 5MPH track is now rated at 60 MPH.
